Terroir Experiences



2012 Artesy Kalleis Syrah is named after the Greek Goddess of beauty. Kalleis  is a single vineyard wine grown at Bridgelands Vineyard in Margaret River Western Australia where the weather is cooler and the growing season is long. The vineyard was planted in 1999 on a a north/south orientated downslope using the Western Australian (WA) Shiraz clone. The soil type is pale yellow loam over clay subsoils. The 2012 Artesy Kalleis was produced by Naturaliste Vintners in Margaret River. The grapes were de-stemmed and whole berries were dropped into fermentation bins. It was a natural indigenous fermentation with daily gentle manual punchdowns. The wine was aged was aged 18 months in neutral French oak 300 liter Saury barrels. The 2012 Artesy Kalleis carries the appellation of the vineyard which is Margaret River Western Australia.
